Recap

The past month has been a bit crazy.

I started working here.
I went to Disneyland with mi ma.
I nearly died on this hill while biking. (Ok, maybe I’m exaggerating, but I thought I was near death when I flew off the bike head first. I had some nasty bruises.)
 I made socks!

I adopted Aikido….
and Tyson.
I forgot my gummy peach rings in the car. I don’t think I’ll be eating peach rings ever again….
I learned how to make Japanese Stab Bind books. You can find tutorials on the web.

And lastly, I drove my car into the fence....It was not one of my finest moments, so I did  not take a picture. Needless to say I will  have to replace my rear bumper. Le sigh.

Shawl and Socks

Good news, I finished school and I should start work soon. I also finished my first Shawl. Hooray!!! I feel quite accomplished. I used 2nd time cotton, so it is a bit heavy. I love it and it is really is warm. Too bad it is going to be warm soon.

After working on the shawl I decided to tackle this sock. I finished the first one in 2004 after I graduated school. LOL. So, now that I have finished Mortuary School I thought it would be appropriate to finish the second sock.

Get your Craft on!

The closer I get to finishing school, the less school work I want to do. I would rather spend my time making things and that's exactly what I have done! I have been doing a little bit of everything, such as crochet and clay sculpting. Here are some of my latest creations.

SIDE NOTE: BANKSY SIGHTING. I went to Unique LA on Saturday and my friend and I spotted a Banksy Art Piece. I thought it was pretty exciting because I watched Exit Though the Gift Shop about a week ago. I don't know how long this has been here, but for those in the LA area, its near Maple and 9th st.

Bags, bags and more bags

I can never get enough of bags. Here are some that I have sewn and knitted. I found the pattern for the skull bag in One Yard Wonders.
This pattern can be found here

It was my first time crocheting the Afghan stitch so it came out really sloppy. In order to fix the ugliness, I crocheted a border around the strap, which turned out very nice. I’m still not sure how to properly crochet the afghan stitch, but I’ll keep practicing.

I ended up using 1. 25 skeins of green. The green yarn did not match exactly because I bought them at two different yarn stores.

The bag was fun to make and the directions were very easy to follow. The yarn lends itself nicely to this pattern. It does stretch a lot and it ends up looking like a giant sock, but it serves its purpose: Reduce the carbon footprint!

London Highlights!

I left for London for my spring break and it was an absolute blast! One week was certainly not enough to see all of London, but I will most definitely visit again. The transportation system rocks and you get anywhere via subway, bus or by foot. Here are the highlights.

The British Museum

Highgate Cemetery

Saatchi Gallery

Shakespeare Globe

Sherlock H0lmes Museum

I'll post more. I have to finish the laundry

Great Scott!

One of my projects for Restorative Art is to sculpt a face. I'm a huge Back to the Future fan, so I decided to create Dr. Emmett Brown. I am mostly finished with him. So far I have put in 12 hours of work. (3 hours, 4 Mondays). I never made an entire face before, however I'm happy with the results. Here are pictures of the process.

I think I'll make him some goggles.

One-Yard Wonder

This is Chispa

She is a 6 pound Chihuahua who has a slew of quirks. For instance, she snores really loud and she loves to hog the bed. She has her own bed, but she insists on sleeping on mine. So, I decided to make her a new one. I found this pattern in One-Yard Wonders.
I thought it was pretty awesome, but Chispa thought otherwise. This is how she chose to use it.
I think she might be boycotting it because it was meant for a cat. Tee hee.

Week 3 and Week 4

I'm a tad behind on the posting, but I have been taking pictures every day. You may view week 3 here and week 4 here. I know my posts have been a bit short lately, but school has started again and it has taken over my life. Le sigh.

Week 2 has passed and I'm still going strong! Hooray!

These are some pictures of the week, but you can go here to see the rest of week 2. I'm too lazy to post them all on this blog.....Yeah, yeah.
