Nautical Necklace

This past December I went to Unique LA and was inspired by all the neat crafts. My favorite were the nautical necklaces. So I decided to make my own.

I was pretty happy with the final product. 

Blue the Blue Whale

People are never too old to have stuffed animals.....Especially cool ones such as these. I found this little guy in Amy Gaines' book Little Knitted Creatures. This pattern was very easy to follow. I used Lily Sugar N' Cream yarn. He keeps me company everyday by hanging out on my dashboard.

Long Stitch Book

I learned how to make this book from Non-Adhesive Binding Books Without Paste or Glue by Keith A. Smith. I made this book using a cookie box. The paper is ordinary color copy paper. I used waxed linen in order to bind the book together. This book took me two movies and an episode of Married...With Children to make.

Kitty Shoes

About two years ago, while I was wandering through the bookstore, I came across a book called Witch Craft. The book is filled with cute halloween crafts, including a tutorial on how to make these cat shoes. It was rainly all day and I had no desire to venture out, so I thought it would be the purrfect day to make them (he he, I made a funny). I think I may be a little too old to be wearing kitty shoes, but I don't care.

This project is cheap and takes little time to make. I will definitely be making more of these shoes.

catching up

So I am sure you have all noticed that I am terrible at keeping up with my blog, but I have been keeping busy with projects. I am back into my sewing phase. I still haven't made clothes for myself, but it's on my bucket list. Here are some of the projects I have completed. 

My best friend loves batman and I thought this was a suitable birthday gift. Suffice to say, she absolutely loved it! The bag pattern is one that I have used often. It is very easy and fast to make, which is why I make it often. The pattern was created by artsycraftybabe and can be found here. The  kimono slippers are a Sue Kim pattern and can be found on Ithinksew.com or on her etsy account. You should definitely check out Sue Kim's patterns, they are pretty awesome and her instructions are easy to follow. Lastly, I bought the fabric at Joann's. 

This scarf was made for one of my co-workers. I used the Seafoam stitch in from the Vogue stitchnary. The yarn is mochi and I found it at an awesome store call Michael Levine's in downtown LA.

The exterior fabric was found at the urban craft center, the hello kitty fabric was from Michael Levine's and the cupcake fabric was found at Joann's. I found the wallet pattern here.

This clutch pattern was purchased on keyka lou's etsy shop. Fabric came from Michael Levine's.  I don't know if you can see but the interior is architecture fabric. I love it!

I used same fabric, but I used a free pattern called the buttercup bag. I expected the bag to be bigger, but it really is a large clutch bag. Je je. You may find the pattern here.

OMG. I love this bag!!!!!!!!!! It is also a Sue Kim pattern. Fabric came from Michael Levine's.

 After making the batman slippers I had to make some for myself.

Of course there is more bookbinding. I can't remember where I found the cool vintage paper, but the sushi paper came from Papersource......

New Blog

Cloth Covered Bookbinding

The past couple months have been a little crazy, but I finally finished a project. About a week ago, I visited the Urban Craft Center in Santa Monica (an awesome shop, by the way) and I saw this version of bookbinding. PVA glue seemed to do the trick and it only took 3 hours to make. I selected the Day of the Dead fabric, since Halloween is just around the corner. I hope you like it. 

Spring Cupcakes and Photo Project Update

I stopped by Cost Plus World Market yesterday and found this adorable cupcake kit.

I was a little sloppy in the decoration department. Je je, my aunt really wanted one, but she was pressed on time so I just slapped on some icing and sprinkles. They were yummy though.

March Updates

Hello all,
I've been keeping busy with a little bit of everything. I started knitting again and I finally finished my shawl that I started way back in September. I used 10 skeins of Inca Alpaca yarn by Classic Elite, which I purchased at Unwind. If you live in the San Fernando Valley and haven't visited Unwind, go.... GO NOW! Stop reading and GO. Je je.

 

I felt warm and fuzzy after I finished the shawl that I immediately started making a scarf out of Mochi plus. 

I found this yarn at Michael Levine's. This store is AMAZING!!! I always come home with awesome finds. The beads were from Bead Source and the bracelet were from Chinatown, but the rest was from Levine's... I'll let you bask in it's rainbow goodness.

I have still been keeping up with bookbinding. Life has been much easier since I invested in a guillotine. I made this Coptic book for my friend's birthday.
